The FC Bayern basketball players clearly missed the surprise in the Euroleague. Coach Pablo Laso’s team clearly lost 59:98 to FC Barcelona.
In the end, FC Barcelona was simply too big for the basketball players at FC Bayern Munich. They were only level in the second quarter when the hosts at the Palau Blaugrana allowed themselves a short break. The Spaniards dominated the rest of the game and in the end deservedly won 98:59 against FC Bayern Basketball, who did not reach their performance limits that evening and ultimately had to admit defeat by more than 40 points. The best thrower on the Munich side was Serge Ibaka with 13 points, while Jabari Parker was the most accurate on the “Blaugrana” side.
Weak first quarter
After the win at Baskonia, the Munich team arrived with a lot of self-confidence and also had summer newcomer Serge Ibaka, but in the first quarter the hosts quickly brought FC Bayern back down to earth. Coach Pablo Laso’s team saw little land in the first ten minutes and went into the second period with an 11:27 deficit.
Things didn’t get much better there. The Munich team were better defensively and the Catalans’ hit rate, which had been excellent in the first half, was no longer quite as good (16:16). Nevertheless, the guests remained behind in the aggregate and were faced with a 27:43 deficit at the break.
FCB basketball players are dismantled
FCBB also couldn’t find its way into the game in the third ten minutes. Although the Munich team scored on the first move of the game with a three-pointer from Devin Booker’s corner, they were hardly dangerous after that. Barcelona, who increasingly switched to administration mode, were able to extend their lead to 30 points (70:40 from the hosts’ perspective).
In the final section, the Bavarian resistance was finally broken and the Spaniards were able to continue to score reliably and extend the result to dismantling. In the end, the hosts narrowly missed out on 100 points. At least the people of Munich were spared this embarrassment.
