A fan approached Maya Hawke and rejected Ethan Hawke. How the two reacted to the mix-up on the street – read here.
Ethan Hawke appeared on the US morning show “Today” to talk about the success of his latest film “Blue Moon”. But a recorded interview clip from his daughter Maya Hawke focused on a funny moment of confusion between father and daughter, which made the “Stranger Things” actress realize the success of the series and her own fame.
A mix-up became an aha moment for Maya Hawke
In the short excerpt, the 26-year-old sat on a black leather couch with a few of her set colleagues for an online interview. The conversation was to promote the fifth and final season of the record-breaking mystery series, in which she played the role of Robin Buckley since the third season.
In it, the actress described an amusing interaction between her father and a stranger while they were walking together: “I was walking down the street with my dad when someone yelled, ‘Wow, hey.’ My dad turned around and said, ‘Sorry, I’m not taking any pictures today,’ and kept walking. The stranger then said, ‘I don’t know who you are, man! I wanted to talk to Robin.’ And I was like, ‘Oh man, this is a big show.'”

In an interview with “Today,” Ethan Hawke then explained to the moderator that his daughter had understated her wording a bit because an incident like this had “happened about five times.”
The Hollywood star revealed these details about a still secret project
According to Hawke, the secret project will also be made in collaboration with director Richard Linklater of “Blue Moon” and will be released in cinemas in 2027. This brings the number of films the two have made together to ten. According to the actor, the planned film is a historical film. The 55-year-old also revealed that, in his personal opinion, it will be “one of the best films ever made,” as it has been taking shape in their minds for almost forty years. After this big prophecy, he promised the interviewer that he would be back on the show with him in about “18 months to prove the statement.”
That’s what “Blue Moon” is about
The 2025 film “Blue Moon” is a biographical comedy-drama directed by Richard Linklater about legendary Broadway lyricist Lorenz Hart (played by Hawke), who dies in a single evening – the night of the opening night of the musical Oklahoma! – at New York’s Sardi’s Bar, he struggles with his failed career, jealousy of his former partner Richard Rodgers and inner demons. The plot takes place almost entirely in real time, is dialogue-heavy and portrays Hart as a brilliant but deeply vulnerable artist who is caught between pressure to succeed, self-doubt and unfulfilled longing. Hawke also supports Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale and Andrew Scott in other roles.
