The glasses manufacturer Essilorluxottica secures the Canadian start-up Cellview Imaging Inc.
With the takeover of the medical technician, the glasses manufacturer wants to expand its commitment to higher industry standards and an improved quality of ophthalmology, said Essilorluxottica on Tuesday. Cellview specializes in innovative diagnostics using retina imaging.
The company based in Toronto, Canada develops and produces diagnostic imaging instruments. This can diagnose ophthalmologists and opticians: Inside retinal diseases using an ultra-wet angle network skin camera. Currently, the products are only available from Cellview in North America. With essilorluxottica, sales should also be expanded to other regions – starting with Europe –
“While our products and services-as the cornerstone of the open business model of Essilorluxottica-remain accessible to all industry players, we increase the market standards in line with our way to the medical technology area,” said essilorlorluxottica CEO Francesco Milleri and his deputy Paul du Saillant.
With the takeover, the shopping tour at Essilorluxottica continues. At the beginning of January, the Group secured the French technology company Pulse Audition, which specializes in artist-intelligence-based solutions for noise suppression and language improvement.
The glasses manufacturer has also belonged to its portfolio since last year the streetwear provider Supreme and holds glasses licenses for brands such as Diesel and Prada, presents its results for the 2024 financial year on Wednesday.
