eSports, Counter-Strike: Gamerlegion Loses Blast Major Finals

Surprise finalist Gamerlegion failed to defeat Team Vitality in the Blast Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major finals.

The Berlin team lost 2-0 to the French e-sports organization and missed the chance for a major title.

Earlier in the quarterfinals, Gamerlegion defeated the Ukrainian e-sports team Monte 2-0. In the semifinals, too, the team beat title contenders Heroic 2-1, despite a rocky start.

Vitality also had a good run in front of the home crowd, beating their opponents Into The Breach and Apeks 2-0 beforehand. This good run was also noticeable in the game against Gamerlegion.

On the first map, Overpass, the German organization barely got a foot in the door, losing 6-16. On Nuke, the second map, Gamerlegion gained momentum in the first half and took a 10-5 lead. But Vitality caught up rapidly in the second half and took the title.

“What an incredible journey…Three years ago I took on the in-game leadership role when nobody believed in me,” Vitality team captain Dan “apEX” Madesclaire tweeted after the first Major win. “So proud my boys, we are Major champions!”
