Radio host and Hunks star Esko Eerikäinen is excited about his new territorial conquest.

Eerikäinen took the role of Vince Fontaine in the musical Grease, which will be performed next spring.

– It would be wonderful to say that there were thousands of applicants and I was chosen, laughs Eerikäinen.

The host reveals that choreographer Marco Bjurström suggested him for the role and that’s how he met the creators of the musical. Together, they came to the decision that Eerikäinen is the right person to take on the role of the musical’s radio host.

Vince’s role is one that Eerikäinen can identify with.

– The character is a funny radio DJ who has the same style as me. A DJ who loves to rock.

Eerikäinen also describes that time has passed Vince by, but he still tries to be strongly involved in the world of young people. According to his own words, the presenter, who will turn 50 next year, identifies with that as well.

Expectations

What Eerikäinen is most looking forward to is working with a musical group. The joint rehearsals start in March and April is the premiere at Messukeskus.

– I’m looking forward to what it’s like to work in musical production. It is completely foreign to the world, Eerikäinen summarizes.

He is happy to be able to make a popular and well-known musical with numerous professionals. Being in the same production with Jorma Uotinen, for example, is a great honor for Eerikäinen.

– If Marco had asked for a rock, I would have been excited to join, he laughs.

Eerikäinen still doesn’t know if he plans to move more to the side of musicals. He’s going to flip this card first and then dream more.

– It’s great that people dare to do things and make their dreams come true, like in this production, he describes the upcoming musical.

According to Esko, you should dare to dream big in life. You never know what dreams you can make come true. Jenni Gästgivar
