Van de Looi started his coaching career at FC Groningen, where he won the cup in 2015. He then switched to Willem II, followed by the Dutch Juniors, Heracles Almelo and the Slovenian Olimpija Ljubljana. The latter adventure was short-lived, after which Van de Looi was without a club for some time.
“I am very much looking forward to working as head coach of FC Volendam in the coming years,” says Van de Looi. “There is a great challenge to make the club stable again and return it to the highest level. In addition, I know technical director Patrick Busby from our time at FC Groningen and I look forward to working with Patrick, players, staff and supporters.”
“In Erwin we see the ideal trainer to start the upward trajectory again. I know Erwin as a trainer and person from my FC Groningen period, where we worked successfully and pleasantly together and won the KNVB Cup in 2015,” says technical director Patrick Busby.
