Erra summons Madaula to debate whether he continues on the Parliamentary Board after denouncing “harassment” in Junts

The dust continues within the parliamentary group of Together for the complaint of “parliamentary harassment” of the deputy Aurora Madaula against peers in your group. After the letter signed by more than twenty post-convergent parliamentarians, who rejected that the case could be treated as “sexist violence” and limited it to “political disagreements”, the president of the Chamber, Anna Erra, has decided to take action on the matter. As reported by Ara and confirmed by EL PERIÓDICO, Erra plans to summon Madaula to a meeting to discuss his continuity on the Parliamentary Board, where he currently holds the second secretariat. He considers that he has lost trust in her.

The origin of the dispute is the words of Madaula last Friday at the ‘Parliament of the Gifts‘. Visibly affected, the parliamentarian – who is also vice president of the party – spoke of “silent violence”, she denounced “parliamentary harassment“and pointed very directly to his”party mates“.”Sexist violence is that they modify your proposal without your opinion. The abuse of power is also sexist violence,” he asserted from the lectern, after the day before Junts withdrew from a statement by the spokesperson board on abortion in Andorra. According to sources from the group, Madaula had signed the text -agreed with ERC, the CUP and the Comuns- without having agreed.

These accusations of “harassment” bothered an important part of the parliamentary group, and this was evident at the party’s meeting held this Tuesday in the Catalan Chamber, after 22 of the party’s 32 deputies complained to Madaula. According to sources present at the meeting, in which both Laura Borras as Jordi Turull, some participants called for Madaula’s resignation. The same sources also assure that the discussion was not only about the Andorran issue, but that it ended up being a settling of accounts between the different families of the group.

The Borràs sector staunchly defended Madaula, who did not attend the meeting, and rejected that she had to resign, while the sector closest to Turull showed its anger at the deputy’s accusations and demanded accountability. Borràs chose Madaula both for the Board of the Catalan Chamber and to be vice president of the party and she has been one of its most faithful leaders within Junts since the beginning.
