The decision has been made: Eintracht Braunschweig and central defender Ermin Bičakčić do not go into the future together. His contract is not extended.
Eintracht Braunschweig and veteran Ermin Bičakčić go separate paths. The BTSV announced this on Thursday. Together they agreed not to extend the contract of the 35 -year -old central defender at the end of June. “This leaves the lions of an enormously deserved player in the recent club history,” says the message.
For Bičakčić, the second harmony engagement of his career ends. The defensive specialist had already played for the BTSV from January 2012 to June 2014. He then joined Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim. In his previous career he has 162 Bundesliga and 102 second division games. He also ran three times in the Champions League and four times in the Europa League.
Sports Managing Director Benjamin Kessel thanks “from the heart” for the commitment of Bičakčić for the BTSV. “Ermin is a player who has always fully identified with this club – on and off the square,” said Kessel. “With his experience, his mentality and his will, he was an enormously important factor for our team and for the club even in difficult phases.”
Bičakčić turns to the club and fans of Eintracht with emotional words. “For me, Eintracht Braunschweig is more than just an association – it is a matter close to the heart,” says the central defender. “I am proud to have worn the lion’s jersey twice and to have been part of this special club.”
The fact that he kept the class twice in series with Eintracht in recent years were emotional highlights for him. “I would like to thank my teammates and everyone in the club, of whom I was always very respectful,” continued Bičakčić. “Of course, a very special thank you to the fans. Thank you for your energy, your support and recognition. Once lion, always lion.”
The defender is to be officially adopted as part of a home game of Eintracht. The date for this is not yet clear – just as little as it will continue for the Bosnian international.
