The English Premier League championship is getting tighter. Second in the league, Manchester City put pressure on Arsenal when they defeated Leeds (0–1) away from home on Saturday. The only goal of the match was scored in extra time of the first period. It was City’s recent acquisition Antoine Semenyo.
Leeds still had several chances to equalize in the second period, but they couldn’t break their copper.
City took the win, even though they started the struggle without their number one target Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker wasn’t even on the bench, but was completely sidelined.
Arsenal lead the league by two points ahead of City. Arsenal will face Chelsea in a home match on Sunday.
Liverpool, who performed poorly in the Premier League in the early season, created a storm in Saturday’s home match against West Ham. Liverpool was better with a score of 5–2.
Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo managed to score for the hosts. Liverpool’s fifth goal was scored as an own goal by Axel Disas.
