Young AZ failed to win against Brentford O-23. The British defeated the Alkmaar youngsters 2-1. After falling behind, Jayden Addai did something back, but the defeat was unavoidable.

The British had a good chance in the opening phase through Bryan Wilson. His header, however, was tipped over by goalkeeper Daniel Deen. In the counter-punch it was Mexx Meerdink, who shot just wide with a long shot. Just before half-time, a bet by Brentford player Alex Gilbert just went over. The game went up and down in the first half.

After the break it was the visitors who took the lead. They were helped by the Alkmaar promises. Vasilios Pavlidis headed the ball into his own goal from a corner: 0-1. However, AZ did not give in and went looking for the equalizer. Loek Postma had a good shot in the house, but could not outwit the goalkeeper. Through Jayden Addai it was eventually equalized: 1-1. However, it went wrong just in time, after Charlie Farr let Deen fish: 1-2.

Jong AZ’s next match is Monday, December 12. At its own Kalverhoek sports park, Jong PSV will be the opponent from 6.45 p.m.
