E&O and Bergholt haven’t decided yet

HANDBALL – It is not yet certain whether Henrik Bergholt (56) will also be the trainer/coach of Eredivisionist E&O after the summer. The club is in negotiations with the Danish coach.

Bergholt has been the head coach of E&O since September 2021. The former pro does not have the correct papers. The Dutch Handball Association (NHV) has granted the club from Emmen dispensation for Bergholt’s situation this season, but will no longer do so after the summer.

“In order to stay on the bench, Henrik has to start with trainer training HT4,” explains board member Harwin de Jonge. “It is not yet certain whether he will do this.”

Bergholt came to the Netherlands two years ago, because his Danish partner got work in Stadskanaal. When his girlfriend’s work situation changes, this will also have consequences for Bergholt’s position as head trainer at E&O. The club management quickly makes a decision together with Bergholt.

The green and white are going through a changeable season. With two games to go, E&O is in eighth place in the Eredivisie. This weekend the main force will play at home for the last time. Against Bevo 2, the home crowd says goodbye to five.

Emiel Wehkamp, Geert Herm de Goeijen, Peter Woelders, Tom Grouwe and Wouter Sijpkes will stop at E&O. That is in the case of the last two players a real loss. Grouwe and Sijpkes are the goalkeeper duo of Bergholt’s formation this season.
