At this point we portray artists who have made a name for themselves through their green commitment.

Alicia Keys was nineteen when her debut single “Fallin” hit #1 on the Billboard charts in 2001. The “Queen of R&B” has now sold over 90 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling musicians in the world.

The New Yorker made a name for herself early on as a passionate activist. Her extensive philanthropic involvement includes co-founding Keep a Child Alive (KCA), a non-profit organization that provides treatment and care to children and families affected by HIV in Africa and India. KCA seeks out and works with local leaders to develop solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in the fight against AIDS. She also campaigns for the rights of indigenous peoples in Canada, for which she received the Amnesty International Award in 2017.

She also supports Oxfam’s work with her organization We Are Here, which focuses on the areas of equality and justice, women and children, and climate and awareness. Keys and We Are Here have partnered with Oxfam to launch the Stand As One campaign to help people fleeing conflict and disaster.

Keys’ focus has recently shifted more to ecological issues. In 2016 she released the single “Kill Your Mama” with Emeli Sandé, in which she named climate change as an existential threat. “We’re literally killing our mother,” Keys once said of the song, while also expressing her disdain for certain people in positions of power. “The whole world can explode as long as you get rich,” she said. As an entrepreneur, she also pays attention to the environment and recently launched a vegan cosmetics brand.
