Enjoy a tasty snack: here in Zoetermeer you can get an oliebol-frikandel special (video)

The recipe for the batter is secret, but you can also take a look in the kitchen of the oliebollen stall in Meerzicht. Every year, Jaleesa Reekers comes up with special oliebollen that people from all over Zoetermeer come to see. One of the special flavors this year is the oliebol frikandel special. Indeed, with onions, curry and mayonnaise.

The oliebol with pieces of frikandel, a dollop of curry on its bun and a separate container with onions and mayo was baked once in November as ‘bun of the week’. Dirty faces

Most people make funny faces when they hear that the oliebollen stall in Meerzicht bakes an oliebol-friakandel special. But the stall’s regular customers know better. Every week Jaleesa delights her customers with a special bun. One time a bun with a thick layer of Nutella, the other time a strawberry-cheesecake-oliebol. Savory rolls with ham and cheese, for example, are also popular. “A ‘bun of the week’ doesn’t just end up in my stall. I test and taste it extensively before I decide that it is perfect enough.”

With powdered sugar

Theo, Jaleesa’s father, regularly helps her in the stall with baking. He spoons the batter into cake tins and places pieces of halal frikandel on top. Then add another scoop of batter and start baking. “The baking time is seven minutes because the inside must of course be done,” he says. As soon as the balls are out of the oil, they get a dollop of curry. Together with the mayonnaise and onions, the oliebol is a meal in itself. “Some people also sprinkle icing sugar on it,” says Jaleesa, laughing.
