Energy cooperative Ecopower also has to move away from fixed prices and sharply raise electricity tariff | Economy

The members received an email that in the current market conditions the cooperative is forced to take measures to increase the price and to adjust the price system. In concrete terms, from 1 November, half of the new price will be based on a fixed portion, and the other half on a variable portion. To this day, Ecopower is still one of the few suppliers that uses a fixed formula. That will change from November. “The terms and conditions allow that,” clarifies coordinator Jim Williame.

The cooperative refers to market conditions. Ecopower also sometimes has to obtain supplies on the market, where the electricity is much more expensive than its own production. “The costs have become so high and unpredictable that a price increase and a system change to a partly variable price from 1 November 2022 is necessary,” it sounds.

This new system is accompanied by a “significant price increase”, it sounds in the email from Ecopower.
