Funk leaves, Böhnke extends

There are some changes in the goalkeeping team at second division promoted team FC Energie Cottbus. While the previous number one Marius Funk (30) is about to return to youth club VfB Stuttgart, his representative Alexander Sebald is surprisingly calling it quits at the age of 29. Actually tied until 2028, Sebald played four games this season. Next season he will work as a goalkeeping coach alongside Marvin-Gordon Jahn.
“Four years ago I came here to Cottbus and got to know a fantastic club that I am 100 percent passionate about on and off the pitch. The position of goalkeeper coach is a great challenge and opportunity for me, which I had already taken on in the last few months together with Marv and the boys. I am looking forward to everything that is to come,” explained Sebald, who plays for Cottbus He stood between the posts a total of 33 times and kept a clean sheet ten times.
It is still unclear who Sebald will coach in the future. VfB talent Florian Hellstern (18) is considered a candidate. The only thing that is clear is that the previous number three, Max Böhnke (22), is staying in Cottbus. His contract was extended. “Together with the coaching team and Sebo, we will put together a strong goalkeeper team for the coming season in the 2nd league.
