Ricarda Funk won her first medal at the Canal Lalom World Cup in Penrith, Australia.
The Olympic champion of Tokyo and favorite on single gold secured silver in the kayak team together with Elena Lilik and Emily Apel. The trio only had to give up from the Czech Republic. Funk, Lilik and Apel to Gold were missing 3.26 seconds. Bronze went to Slovenia. “With second place we can be very, very happy”said Funk.
Second World Cup medal for the German Canoe Association
For the German Canoe Association (DKV), the second medal at the competitions on the Sydney 2000 Olympic route had been in silver for the Canadier women the day before. The German team had also landed behind the Czech Republic in the Canadian competition with the Olympic second Elena Lilik.
