Bayer Leverkusen’s defensive talent Jeanuël Belocian was seriously injured in a game against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen (2-0) on Sunday. On Monday, the Werkself announced that the 19-year-old Frenchman had torn his cruciate ligament and would be out for the rest of the season. The severity of the injury only became apparent the day after the game. The U21 national player then underwent surgery.
Belocian moved from Stade Rennes to the reigning champions for 15 million euros in the summer. He played in nine competitive games for Bayer 04 and was in the starting line-up three times. The youngster had already missed parts of October and all of November due to an ankle injury.
