In the third and final episode of the series ‘De Podiumvuller’, Jan Warringa performs at a real tent party in Onstwedde. Once he has finished singing, the 64-year-old Coevorde resident looks back on his performance as a podium filler.
Warringa opens the Northern Music Festival in Groningen. “I’m not full yet,” he admits. “I’m the warm-up for the evening. I don’t think that’s a problem.”
In Onstwedde, Warringa is assisted by permanent sound engineer Marco Abbing. “It’s always a pleasure to go out with Jan,” said Abbing set list turns together. “Jan and I are opposites. He is often enthusiastic and then I try to keep him calm. He can get too excited.”
Warringa is allowed to perform three songs in Onstwedde and of course chooses his hit ‘Lange Nachten’. After the performance, the stage filler reflects on his special existence as an artist. “You sometimes think carefully in front of so many people. Who could have thought this? That I would be on stage for so long. You have to enjoy it as long as you can.”
