RTL Nieuws reported last night that the announced emergency shelter will be in Emmen for the overcrowded registration center in Ter Apel. “The municipality of Emmen has not made any decisions or commitments about this,” the municipality writes.
At the overcrowded application center in Ter Apel, large groups of asylum seekers were taken to other locations in the country last night. This happened after the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate had raised the alarm earlier in the day with health minister Ernst Kuipers and the chairman of the Groningen Security Region Koen Schuiling about the health situation on the grounds of the application centre.
Defense announced yesterday that it will help Ter Apel and makes a location available. Asylum seekers can go there who would otherwise have to sleep outside the gates of the application center because there is no room. Defense has no location in Emmen.
