Emmen lets residents think about how to organize King’s Day

Anyone who has ideas for how to put the municipality of Emmen in the spotlight during King’s Day next year can submit them via a specially launched website. On Saturday, April 27, King Willem-Alexander will come to Drenthe with his family to celebrate his 57th birthday.

The last time the royal family celebrated King’s Day – then known as Queen’s Day – in Drenthe was in 2002, when Hoogeveen and Meppel were visited. Emmen wants to make the royal visit an unforgettable memory and wants residents of the municipality to think about how King’s Day should be spent.

Anyone who wants to think about King’s Day 2024 in Emmen can share his or her ideas on the Facebook and Instagram page KoningsdaginEmmen or kingsdaginemmen.nl. “This will make it a celebration for all of us,” says the municipality, which also says it has received good ideas.

People who are not very familiar online can also share their ideas for King’s Day. At the end of this week, the municipality will distribute physical idea boxes throughout the municipality, in which ideas can be deposited. It is not yet known where these boxes will be located.
