Emmeloord police hunt for ‘swinging’ Beetle and hit remarkable occupants | Noordoostpolder

Unexpected is an understatement for what local police officer Mervin Wigbels found yesterday after he went after a ‘very dangerous’ driving old Beetle between Emmeloord and Kuinre with sirens blaring. At least the drivers weren’t drunk. Or it must have been luck…

“Just urgently, with flashing lights and siren, sent by the control room from Kraggenburg towards a vehicle that would drive very dangerously from Emmeloord towards Kuinre,” the officer reported on Instagram. ,,The reporter continued to drive neatly behind the old Volkswagen Beetle and was able to continue to pass on the location. I then saw the vehicle drive into the woods where it came to a stop.”

Surprised three times

The officer may have expected to find a drunk driver. “But to my surprise, a very surprised new bride and groom got out of the vehicle here.” It turned out that they planned to take their wedding photos here.

breathalyzer

Wigbels confronted the couple with the reporter’s observations. It was not clear what dangerous maneuvers would be involved. For the sake of completeness, the officer took a breathalyzer test that immediately yielded a ‘P’ of pass (pass). ,,One more photo with the couple and they could continue with this memorable beautiful day!”
