Emma Raducanu Angers About Fake News: “So Much Wrong Things Have Been Said About Me”

Tennis player Emma Raducanu has complained about “fake news” that has been circulated about her over the past year.

In mid-September 2021, Emma Raducanu stormed into the global spotlight with her sensational win at the US Open. But the Briton paid a high price for her new fame. Your past season was marked by sporting setbacks, physical problems and negative headlines. They in turn ensured that the 20-year-old also reached her mental limits.

“I’ve faced a lot of adversity this year and I’ve had to keep getting up very often,” Raducanu admitted in an interview with lifestyle magazine “Sheerluxe” Insights into her emotional world of the last twelve months. “So much has been said about me that is simply not true,” the British complained about “fake news” that was circulated about her.

She tries not to be influenced by these headlines, Raducanu explained. “And for the last year I’ve been just getting used to it. Hearing the publicity and all these things that I didn’t even know about myself. The attention on the tour is so intense,” she lamented.

Emma Raducanu on her biggest goal for 2023

For 2023, the young Briton, who is currently “only” ranked 75th in the world, has initially set smaller goals after her disappointing 2022. “My biggest goal is to stay injury free. I just want to stay healthy longer,” said Raducanu.

She admitted that the requirements of the tour were often not manageable for her in 2022. “Going into a top-level competition without training and stamina was a problem for my body. That’s why I’ll work hard to stay in good shape and improve.”

Raducanu took a first step in this direction a few weeks ago. With Jez Green, the Brit signed a recognized fitness coach who worked with Andy Murray from 2007 to 2014 and turned the Scot into one of the fittest players on the tour.
