Plasschaert eventually won with 37 points, narrowly ahead of the American Charlotte Rose, who finished second with 38 points. Hungary’s Maria Erdi completed the top three in third with 46 points.
For the 32-year-old Plasschaert, it was her first competition since she won bronze at the European Championships in Sweden in August. A month later she confirmed that she wanted to continue until the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028. The two-time world champion (2018 and 2021) finished fourth in Tokyo (2021) and seventh in Paris (2024).
