WRC2 class final results:

1. Teemu Suninen, Hyundai i20 N Rally 2:54:29.6

2. Yohan Rossel, Citroën C3 Rally2 +32.5

3. Nikolai Grjazin, Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo +53.3

4. Emil Lindholm, Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo +1:32.6

5. Jari Huttunen, Ford Fiesta Rally2 +1:57.1

Emil Lindholm and his cart Reeta Hämäläinen finished fourth in the WRC2 class at the Catalunya World Rally Championship.

Lindholm drove to victory on the last power stage and took second place in the World Championship points. The situation must be tickling when going to the last race of the season.

Lindholm can still win the class championship, because Andreas Mikkelsen, who holds the top spot, has already run his race of the season. The difference between Lindholm and Poland on the plains Kajetan to Kajetanowicz is five points.

Lindholm is ahead of the Pole with his number of wins. The Finn would need at least fifth place in the Japan World Rally Championship to be crowned champion. Kajetanowicz, on the other hand, needs to finish in the top five and be higher than Lindholm if he wants to be number one in the World Series.

Through flat tires to bottom times

For Lindholm, the Catalunya rally started sadly. Already on the second stage on Friday, there was a flat tire. Another similar one struck on Sunday. Lindholm did not give up, but drove three bottom times on the final day and took fourth place Jari Huttunen in front of the nose.

– We had to pick up the pace for the following sections. We bet on Power (3.3 second bottoms) and it paid off. From there we got three very important extra points – especially when Kajetan (Kajetanowicz) didn’t get a single one. It ended well, all is well, Lindholm said in his press release.

– The goal is now in Japan, which is a new competition for all of us. There, the goal is to score enough points to take us to the championship. At this point, a big thank you to all my supporters for being involved in making it possible for us to drive in Japan for the WRC2 championship.
