The report was received by the fire brigade of the Westhoek zone on Tuesday evening at 6.16 pm. “We were called in as part of the ‘rescue Belgian coast’ procedure after a report of a possible object that had landed in the water,” explains Kristof Louagie, spokesperson for the Westhoek Fire Department.

“According to the reporter, it could be a small plane or a drone that crashed about three kilometers from the coastline, near De Panne. The Westhoek fire brigade, West Coast police zone, the coast guard, the shipping police and a helicopter from the Dutch coast guard are on site for the search. Nothing has been found for the time being.”
