Turku’s Inter squatted awkwardly in the quarterfinals of the Finnish Cup.

Playing in the Veikkausliiga, Inter lost to their own partner club Salo Palloilijoi after penalty shots 0–1.

SalPa plays in Ykköne. The team is currently only ninth in the series.

Elmo Heinonen scored the Saloites’ decisive goal in the shootout. The home crowd went wild for the hit and Heinonen vented by taking off his shirt.

In accordance with the rules of the Finnish Cup, Inter was assigned to face their partner club at the quarter-final stage at the latest. The same rule also applied to Espoo Honka and its academy team.

Honka convincingly defeated Honka Academy playing in Kakkose 5–1 on Wednesday.
