National striker Lea Schüller expressed consternation on Instagram after her positive corona test.

“I don’t even know what to say about that. For two years I managed not to get it and to protect myself as best I could and I just hoped not to get it during or just before the European Championship,” wrote the goalscorer from FC Bayern Munich.

The German Football Association had previously announced the test result at the European Championship in England. The 24-year-old was isolated from the team and will miss the second group game of the German women against Spain on Tuesday (9 p.m. CEST/ARD and DAZN). “Now I can’t change it and I’ll try to support the team as best I can from the room and soon back on the pitch,” said Schüller and wrote to the team: “Girls, I believe in you, you can do it .”
