Sarah Zadrazil from FC Bayern Munich is facing her 100th international match for Austria in the quarter-finals of the European Championship against Germany.
“It’s a special game. 100 international matches, that makes me proud,” said the 29-year-old midfielder before the game on Thursday (9 p.m. / ARD and DAZN) at the Brentford Community Stadium. “Of course it would be ideal if we also won on Thursday, then I would never forget my 100th international match again.”
Zadrazil moved from Turbine Potsdam to Munich within the German Bundesliga in 2020, where she celebrated the German championship in 2021. Only Sarah Puntigam (123), Carina Wenninger (119), who was loaned to AS Roma from FC Bayern this summer, and Nina Burger (109) are ahead of her in Austria’s all-time list.
According to Zadrazil, he had met Bayern star Thomas Müller before the tournament, both have shirt number 25 in Munich. “It was a rare contact. He is very personable, it was a very good exchange away from the cameras,” she said .
