In April, Musk (51) and Zilis (36) filed a request to give the twins their father’s last name and make their mother’s last name part of their middle names. To protect the privacy of the children, Insider is withholding their names. The warrant was approved in May by a judge in Austin, Texas.
The twins were born last November, just weeks before Musk welcomed his second child with singer Grimes. It is unclear what the relationship is between Musk and Zilis.
Zilis is described as a rising star in the world of artificial intelligence. After earning her bachelor’s degree in economics and philosophy from Yale, she worked at IBM, Bloomberg Beta and Tesla, among others. She is currently director of operations and special projects at Neuralink, a neurotechnology firm of which Musk is CEO. Zilis also shares many of the same passions as Musk. That’s how she is Insider fond of space travel, transport and especially artificial intelligence.
With these twins, the total number of children of Musk comes to nine. He shares five children with his ex-wife Justine Wilson; the twins Griffin and Xavier, and the triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian. He has two children with singer Grimes: X and Y. During his first marriage to Wilson, he also had a son, Nevada. Tragically, their first child died of cot death after ten weeks.
