Eloïs Rousseau lives in Marke and is 28 years old. She works as a management assistant at Lidl. Together with her brother Conner, she was an animator at Joetz for many years in the Barkentijn children’s and youth stay. She is very concerned about children in special youth care, just like her brother.
She grew up in Sint-Niklaas, but her roots are in Kortrijk. Her father Jo Rousseau, ‘godfather’ of the Barkentijn, was born in the Guldensporenstad. Eloïs Rousseau follows in the footsteps of her grandmother Cecile Delrue who was a municipal councilor in Kortrijk for eighteen years. Her great -grandmother, Maria Desmet, also sat in the Kortrijk municipal council for 33 years. She was also the first female socialist city councilor in the city. The Maria Desmetplein along the Brugsesteenweg was named after her. For example, Eloïs is the third generation in her family who is sitting in the Kortrijk city councilor.
