American stand-up comedian Ellen DeGeneres (68) can be heard again as the well-known blue surgeonfish Dory in the new short film from Pixar. The American reports this Deadline.
Details about the film’s plot from Pixar’s Finding Nemouniverse are still being kept secret, as is the name of the new short film. There is also no information available yet about other creative parties involved. Production of the short film recently started.
In Finding Nemo (2003), an overanxious clownfish (Albert Brooks) travels the ocean in search of his missing son, Nemo (Alexander Gould). DeGeneres’ Dory, the clownfish companion Marlin, helped track down Nemo. The film became a cultural phenomenon and grossed more than $941 million worldwide. It also won the Oscar for Best Animated Film.
The sequel was released in 2016, Finding Doryalso starring DeGeneres as Dory. That story takes place a year after the events Finding Nemo off. Dory remembers that she still has parents who may be looking for her. Marlin and Nemo will help Dory search for her parents.
In the Dutch versions of both films, Dory’s voice belonged to actress, singer and comedian Annick Boer.
