Eliud Kipchoge, winner of the Berlin Marathon, broke his own world record



Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge, who competed in men in the Berlin Marathon, once again broke the world record.


Kipchoge won the marathon in Berlin with a time of 2.01.09 seconds. The 37-year-old athlete, who is also an Olympic champion, thus improved his 2018 world record of 2.01.39 by 30 seconds.


In the men’s race of the marathon, Kenya’s Mark Korir came in second place with a time of 2.05.58, and Ethiopia’s Tadu Abate came in third with a time of 2.06.28.


Ethiopian Tigist Assefa came first with a time of 2.15.37 in the race in Berlin, which is among the 6 biggest marathons in the world. Kenya’s Rosemary Wanjiru was second with 2.18.00, while Ethiopia’s Tigist Abayekew was third with 2.18.03.


Approximately 45,000 athletes participated in the Berlin Marathon this year.
