Elia withdraws fluctuating network tariffs | Money

Many comments were received during a market survey from both the industry and the distribution system operators who bring the electricity to households and small businesses. Elia therefore decided to postpone the introduction of dynamic network tariffs, the level of which varies from hour to hour, for the time being. In the coming years, the Elia grid tariffs will simply consist of an annual amount and a fixed tariff per megawatt hour consumed, De Tijd learned.

The tariffs for the use of the high-voltage grid are passed on to both households and companies via the electricity bill and will rise sharply in the coming years due to a wave of investment. Elia must submit its final tariff proposal to the energy watchdog CREG for the period 2024-2027 by 10 May.

In its first draft proposal, Elia foresees an increase in network tariffs of around 80 percent in the period 2024-2027. According to De Tijd, if the CREG gives the green light, this means that the Elia grid tariffs for an average family will rise by just under 40 euros per year.
