Good luck and blessings for the new year! The year 2025 has started and that new year will of course be heralded in all kinds of ways.
Of course with lots of fireworks, oliebollen and a lot of fun. While one person has fun setting off fireworks, the other prefers to watch from a distance. This also applies to the De Holdert residential care center in Emmen. The elderly who stayed awake until midnight came together with four employees who work night shifts.
“I find it very pleasant,” says one of the residents. “Normally I celebrate it alone with my husband and our children call at noon.” Now the residents sit together in the ‘living room’. “Isn’t this really nice? But I only drink water.”
According to an employee of De Holdert, residents celebrated in small groups in previous years, but this year it was decided to do it in one room. “We really notice that people love this. We had our concerns this year, but we also had moments of happiness.”
