third conclusion:

After 20 minutes it is surprisingly 1:1 between DEG and the Grizzlys Wolfsburg! For a long time in the first period it looked like the home side had a deserved lead at the break, and D’Amigo quickly made it 1-0 after just 69 seconds. Even after that, Düsseldorf remained the significantly better team and repeatedly missed the possible 2-0 against vulnerable Wolfsburg. In the 18th minute, however, the Grizzlies made it 1-1 out of nowhere and even sniffed at the second goal after Enlund’s goal. Dusseldorf came under constant fire in the final seconds and had to play another 40 seconds with one man less in the second period.

20:06

No goal! Clear thing: The puck is not even remotely behind the line, rather in front of it. The referees recognize this immediately on the videotape and very quickly dismiss it.

20

20:05

Goal for Wolfsburg? The Lower Saxony immediately go full throttle in the power play and maybe make it 1:2. A bad pass from Geitner allows DeSousa to get a shot right in front of the goal. But was the puck behind the line?

18

20:03

Joonas Jarvinen

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for Joonas Järvinen (Düsseldorfer EG)

Are the Lower Saxony even turning the game now? Järvinen has to come off the ice because of a board check and thus allows WOB the first majority.

18

20:03

They have to ask the home side a bit why it wasn’t already 2-0 beforehand. There was actually nothing to be seen from Wolfsburg until the equalizer.

18

20:01

Jonas Enlund

Jonas Enlund

Goal for Grizzlies Wolfsburg, 1-1 by Jonas Enlund

Wolfsburg with the 1-1 equalizer out of nowhere! DeSousea forwards the puck into the slot from the right and hits Hane’s schooner. Enlund is right in front of goal first to the rebound and converts the rebound. Ok, so the compensation is certainly not deserved…

18

20:01

The 1-0 after 20 minutes is becoming more and more likely. Not much is happening in front of the goal areas at the moment. Eder has another chance and hits a shot from the free slot practice the goal.

17

19:59

In the last few minutes before the siren, the interruptions pile up. Wolfsburg fails due to too many of their own target losses and occasionally makes use of unauthorized long-range shots…

15

19:55

Will there be a second goal in the first third? DEG is working on it and works the puck over Postel to the short corner. Beam Meier drives to the aluminum and sacks the play equipment in his glove.

15

19:54

Unfortunate scene: Fabio Pfohl is caught in the face by the tip of Alexander Barta’s bat during a face-off. The Wolfsburg shakes himself briefly and can then continue playing.

14

19:53

At the moment, the Lower Saxony are making progress again. DeSousa and Co. increase their pass security and gain more time on offense.

14

19:51

Dangerous Grizzly Advance! Archibald takes the hard rubber and pulls once around the gate from the left. In the following cross pass into the slot, only one taker is missing.

12

19:49

The Düsseldorfer EG continues to control events and acts in the attacking game in a very considered and clarified manner. Wolfsburg have problems and are stuck deep in their own third.

10

19:47

Big Save by Strahlmeier! The DEG really gets going on the offensive and inspires with a quick combination. Barta skates in front of the right post and hangs up directly for Eder. Only Stahlmeier’s strong positional play prevented the second goal!

9

19:44

Beam Meier is under fire again! DEG storms forward again and fires two dangerous shots from the left edge of the slot via MacAulay and Proft. Beam Meier in the goal of the guests is required and prevents the 2:0!

7

19:42

Signs of life from the grizzlies! After a good gang game by Gaudet, Schinko shoots from long-range. Hane pays attention and deploys his schooner in time.

6

19:40

Now the grizzlies can free themselves and drive up to the opponent’s zone via Gaudet. A shot on goal by Wolfsburg does not follow.

5

19:38

Nothing comes from Lower Saxony after the 0:1. The guests are somewhat surprised by the early phase of pressure from Düsseldorf and cannot provide relief at the moment.

4

19:37

The hosts stay at the disc and keep the score high. Defender Joonas Järvinen plays himself into the focus and initially drives the puck dangerously into the slot, a little later the Finn fails to cross the ball for Schiemenz.

3

19:35

A dream start for the red and yellow! Just 69 seconds are on the clock when the Grizzly’s box rings for the first time. How do the guests react to the cold shower?

2

19:33

Jerry D'Amigo

Jerry D’Amigo

Goal for Düsseldorfer EG, 1-0 by Jerry D’Amigo

Düsseldorf’s first shot lands in the net! After Proft makes an extra lap around the Wolfsburg goal and sees D’Amigo in the middle. The US boy dusts off easily and pushes the puck into the goal with the help of Strahlmeier’s equipment.

2

19:33

The first shot on goal of the game! Chris DeSousa opens a counterattack for the guests from Lower Saxony and heaves the puck from half-right into Hendrik Hane’s catch hand in the DEG goal.

2

19:32

The mood is already good! The DEG fans raise the alarm directly and are finally providing a real hockey feeling again.

1

19:30

The puck drops and the game begins! The hosts are skating in black jerseys in the PSD Bank Dome today, Wolfsburg is wearing orange shirts.

19:15

The Grizzlys’ conclusion about the DEL restart is more divided. The Lower Saxony completed a number of catch-up games during the Olympic break and are now back in second place. The curious thing: Each of the last four DEL games with Grizzly participation all ended with five goals for the winning team. The Wolfsburg defeated the Augsburg Panthers 5-0 and also shot Nuremberg 5-1 off the ice. At the same time, the Lower Saxony also suffered a 1:5 defeat against the Straubing Tigers and the Iserlohn Roosters. Who is saying “five wins” today?

19:05

After the Olympic break, things are not going quite smoothly for the Düsseldorfer EG. After the narrow 1:2 against Red Bull Munich at the DEL restart, the Rhinelanders also lost 1:4 against the Adler Mannheim and again had the chance to win a point. “We had enough chances to score and in the end it was little things that we were punished for,” said the disappointed DEG coach Harold Kreis after the defeat against the Kurpfalzer. Against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg, the Düsseldorfers are hoping for more effectiveness in front of the opposing goal.
