Eintracht Frankfurt’s new coach? Jaissle hides “Temptation”.

He won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 and led the Hessians to the final of the DFB Cup in 2023, but the SBU announced a week ago that they would be terminating their collaboration with coach Oliver Glasner at the end of the season. Who follows the Austrian is still open. A hotly traded candidate has now spoken up.

“After intensive discussions and a detailed analysis with Oliver Glasner, Eintracht Frankfurt has decided to end the cooperation after the 2022/23 season” – with these words the Adlerträger dropped the bomb on May 9th. Successful coach Oliver Glasner no longer has a future in the Main metropolis, a new trainer should take over the scepter at Eintracht.

As a result, some names shot up that could succeed the 48-year-old. Above all, Dino Toppmöller, who assisted Julian Nagelsmann at FC Bayern, and Matthias Jaissle, who has been on the sidelines at RB Salzburg since 2021, quickly emerged as top candidates. The latter has now spoken up.

“I’ve gotten used to really hiding everything,” explained Jaissle, from the “SZ” confronted with the rumors about his person. “I don’t want to have to resist temptation.” An evasive maneuver that could hardly be more meaningful, as it suggests that the job in Frankfurt is such a “temptation” for him.

“Big loss of energy” due to rumors about a job at Eintracht Frankfurt?

“As a player, he had the experience that a career plan made no sense in the job,” Jaissle continued. “To deal with the question of what might be and what could come would be a great loss of energy for me.”

Jaissle was under contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for seven years, for which he made 31 appearances in the Bundesliga. However, injuries put him out of action for around three years during his career, and the defender ultimately gave up his football boots at the age of 25.

As a coach, however, Jaissle could now have the career that was denied him as a player. He celebrated the double with Salzburg in 2021/22 and was named coach of the year. Moving to one of the top 5 European leagues would be the logical step. Jaissle’s contract with RB doesn’t end until the summer of 2025, but the Mozartstadters have rarely put obstacles in the way of courted players or coaches in recent years.
