Pedro Guimaraes is moving from Orange County SC of the United Soccer League Championship to Eintracht Frankfurt on July 1st. The 17-year-old left-back has both US and Brazilian citizenship and will be gradually introduced to men’s football at the SGE.
Sports director Timmo Hardung explained: “Pedro Guimaraes is a very exciting talent as a left full-back. We have been following his development for some time. In addition to his strong technique, he has an exceptionally good understanding of the game for his age. We are very pleased that he has chosen Eintracht Frankfurt and sees his future with us. At the same time, we will give him the necessary time to get used to German professional football and to develop step by step with us. In this context, Pedro will join us as planned U21 (in the Hessenliga; editor) can gain valuable match practice.”
According to information from Transfermarkt.us Orange County will initially receive a transfer fee of 250,000 euros plus bonus payments. If these bonuses come due, Guimaraes could become the most expensive player in the club’s history.
“Pedro’s move to Eintracht Frankfurt, a club that plays at the highest European level, reflects his development and the ambitions of our program at Orange County SC,” said head of football Peter Nugent, adding: “We are proud of Pedro, and preparing players for opportunities of this magnitude is exactly what our development program was designed for. We look forward to following his further development when he moves to Germany this summer.”
