After signing Mario Götze, Eintracht Frankfurt continues to expand its staff. Now the Hessians caught a striker from Leverkusen.

Champions League participant Frankfurt continues to work on the squad for the new season. The Hessians also signed Lucas Alario on Friday. The Argentine comes from Bayer Leverkusen to the Main and signs a contract until 2025. The club announced this via Twitter.

Several German media had previously reported on the impending transfer. The transfer fee should be up to 6.5 million euros.

From River Plate to the Bundesliga

Alario moved from Argentinian club River Plate to Leverkusen in 2017 for 19 million euros and has meanwhile developed into one of the most dangerous strikers in the Bundesliga.

Alario had his most successful season there in 2020/21, when he scored eleven Bundesliga goals. Despite at least six league goals in the past season, he was clearly overshadowed by superstar Patrik Schick.

This is probably why Alarios wanted a change of air. In a total of 164 games for Leverkusen, the nine-time Argentina international scored 58 goals and 16 assists.
