Eintracht Frankfurt: SGE fan favorite just before extension

Good news for fans and those in charge of Eintracht Frankfurt: Veteran Makoto Hasebe will apparently extend his contract, which actually expires at the end of the season, by another year in the near future.

A few days ago, rumors were circulating that Makoto Hasebe had an offer from Eintracht Frankfurt that would allow him to continue playing for SBU beyond the current season, even at the age of 39 for footballers . Accordingly, everything was already clear from the SGE side, the decision for this lay solely with the Japanese.

Now “Bild” reports that the old master has made his decision. In the last few days, there are said to have been “positive signals” from the defender, who has been on the field (almost) the entire time in the last three Bundesliga games.

The tabloid says the central defender could definitely agree in the next few days. Discussions between him and sports director Markus Krösche are said to have resulted in this.

Hasebe, who came to Frankfurt from 1. FC Nürnberg in the summer of 2014 and will be celebrating his 40th birthday in mid-January 2024, would be entering his 18th Bundesliga season. The defender made his debut in the summer of 2007 at VfL Wolfsburg.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Hasebe probably wants to know again

Hasebe himself had already announced that he wanted to decide on a possible career end in March. He may use the upcoming international break for final reflections.

It is already clear that he will get a coaching job at Eintracht Frankfurt after his active playing career, probably in the youth section of the club.

Due to the sporting achievements and the physical fitness of the Japanese – who was suffering from a long-term knee injury on the inner ligament at the end of last year, but is now in top shape again – the young players of the SBU apparently have to be patient a little longer before they can enjoy Hasebe as a coach.
