Loan has long-term contract

It is an open secret that Elye Wahi’s future will not lie with his parent club Eintracht Frankfurt next season. During the week, another loan to current employer OGC Nice was discussed, which, unlike the SGE, is satisfied with the center forward. There is also interest from Turkey, but the Bundesliga club apparently has precise price expectations.
According to a “Bild” report, Frankfurt is demanding 20 million euros for Wahi, who was signed by Olympique Marseille in the winter of 2025 for 26 million. Since then, the market value has more than halved, falling from 25 million euros to 12 million euros. However, the SGE is apparently not prepared to accept a bargain price as the money will be used to sign Arnaud Kalimuendo (purchase option: 27 million euros). There’s no rush anyway: Wahi’s contract in the Main metropolis doesn’t end until 2030.
According to Turkish media reports, one of the clubs interested in a permanent transfer is Besiktas. The club from Istanbul is clearly lagging behind city rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahce this season despite record spending and only has a chance of fourth place with three match days to go.

Last winter showed that the Black Eagles are fundamentally prepared to make major investments. 47 million euros were invested for Emmanuel Agbadou (Wolverhampton), Tammy Abraham (AS Roma) and Hyeon-gyu Oh (KRC Genk) alone, and almost 100 million euros were raised over the entire season. Record signing Orkun Kökçü, who will not appear on the books until next year after the loan with an obligation to buy, is not yet included in the costs.
The fact that Wahi is becoming more popular again on the market is due to his increasing form curve in Nice. After seven goals and two assists in 15 games for the club from the Cot d’Azur, the market value could rise again after the end of the season for the first time since October 2023. The attacker may even say goodbye with a title: Nice is in the final of the Coupe de France and will face Wahi’s former club RC Lens on May 22nd.
