Newcomer Lucas Alario wants to surprise in the premier class with Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt.

“I love playing in the Champions League,” said the Argentinian attacker on Wednesday during his presentation at the Bundesliga club: “I’m there to score goals. That’s how I want to help the team win games.”

For the center forward, who came to the Main from Frankfurt league rivals Bayer Leverkusen, the continuous upward trend of his new club in the recent past was the main reason for the change. “The consistently positive development of Eintracht impressed me,” said the 29-year-old, who signed a contract with Hessen until 2025: “I also had offers from Spain.”

Alario moved to Leverkusen from River Plate Buenos Aires in 2017. The striker made 164 competitive appearances for the Werkself, scoring 58 goals and providing 16 assists.
