Mahmoud Dahoud (30) will leave Eintracht Frankfurt next summer – Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg reports. It would be the third free transfer for the two-time German national player since his departure from Borussia Dortmund in 2023. At the SGE, he is one of three professionals with an expiring contract alongside veteran Timothy Chandler (35), who has been part of the squad since 2014, and Mario Götze (33) – the latter is due to be extended soon.

Dahoud moved from Brighton to Frankfurt on a free transfer in 2024 and, although he only missed two games due to injury, only played 1,607 minutes across 35 games. During this time, its market value fell by 67 percent from 6 million euros to 2 million euros. The native Syrian reached his highest value in the BVB jersey with 18 million euros – the black and yellow brought Dahoud in 2017 from the training club Borussia Mönchengladbach for 12 million euros. Since then, there has been no transfer fee for the central midfielder.

According to “Sky” reporter Plettenberg, several clubs have already inquired about the professional, who recently didn’t make it into the SGE squad. In the first three games under coach Albert Riera he played in defensive midfield, as a hanging striker and as a center forward. This was followed by three games on the bench – against Mainz he was completely absent.

Dahoud among the most valuable free midfielders in the Bundesliga

The wish of TM user “ruhrpott_adler”, which he expressed in the SGE forum, will probably not come true: “I would like to have Dahoud in the squad beyond the summer. I appreciate his skillset, which definitely brings added value in some games in some phases. In my opinion, we don’t have this type of player in the squad this season. BUT: On conditions that reflect his role and playing time much better. So significantly reduced and/or performance-dependent. And he probably will I don’t want to or get a better offer somewhere.”

Dahoud is one of the 15 Bundesliga midfielders with a market value of millions and a contract that ends on June 30, 2026. He comes with the experience of 197 games and 44 scorer points in the German top flight and 59 games in the European Cup.
