The unfortunate chapter of Eintracht Frankfurt is over for Jérôme Onguéné. As the Bundesliga club announced on Saturday, the 27-year-old central defender’s contract was terminated by mutual consent. The former Stuttgart and Salzburg player did not make a competitive appearance for the SGE after moving to the Hessians two and a half years ago.
Onguéné completed most of his appearances at RB Salzburg, which paid a transfer fee of 2 million euros to VfB Stuttgart in 2018 and brought the player back on loan a year after his free transfer to Frankfurt. Onguéné has played 111 games with the Bulls. There were only two at VfB, which paid training club FC Sochaux 2.5 million euros seven years ago. During another loan from Frankfurt to Servette FC, Onguéné played three games. It is not yet known what the Cameroonian’s next stop will be.
