According to a media report, Bundesliga soccer team Eintracht Frankfurt is expanding its personnel for the new year. The SGE is bringing back one of its former captains to support squad planners around sports director Markus Krösche and sports director Timmo Hardung.
Pirmin Schwegler will be joining Eintracht Frankfurt as the new “Head of Professional Football” on January 1st. This is what “Bild” reports. The SGE wants to officially announce the commitment before Christmas.
The 37-year-old is an old acquaintance in the Main metropolis. The former midfielder played for the Eagles between 2009 and 2014 and played 141 competitive games during that time. After stints in Hoffenheim and Hanover, he ended his active career in 2020 with the Western Sydney Wanderers.
The Swiss then stayed in the football business. From November 2020 to the end of 2022, Schwegler was a scout at FC Bayern Munich, and in the summer of 2021 he was even promoted to chief scout. In January 2023 he moved back to TSG Hoffenheim, where he was employed as head of licensed football and football cooperations. At the beginning of September they parted ways.
Schwegler is supposed to support squad planners at Eintracht Frankfurt
According to the report, in his new role at Eintracht Frankfurt, Pirmin Schwegler will in future support the squad planners around sports director Markus Krösche and sports director Timmo Hardung. As a newcomer, he should provide new ideas and contribute his expertise in new scouting areas. According to “Bild”, the Bundesliga club wants to expand its scouting, especially in Africa, Japan and America.
His tasks will also include working with the SGE’s loan players and with the young talents. It is hoped that the Main will ensure that the permeability from the juniors to the professionals will continue to work in the coming years.
