On Sunday, Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed Adi Hütter’s return to the Hessen coaching bench. The 56-year-old already looked after the SGE from 2018 to 2021, but then said goodbye to Borussia Mönchengladbach, accompanied by some background noise. Now the Austrian is back – but Frankfurt is said to have secured itself.
“For me it is something very special and emotional to be coach of Eintracht again. The time we had together in Frankfurt shaped me and I have never forgotten it. Looking back, I always had the feeling that I wasn’t finished yet” – with these words Adi Hütter addressed the Adlerträger fans after the official announcement of his comeback on the sidelines of Eintracht Frankfurt.
Hütter signed a contract until the end of June 2029 on Sunday. Should there be an early separation, the Frankfurters are said to have secured themselves.
Adi Hütter is supposed to collect this amount from Eintracht Frankfurt
As “Bild” claims to have learned, Eintracht has provided Hütter’s contract with a so-called exit clause. If the second term in office does not go as desired, the SGE can pull the ripcord without taking too much financial risk. According to the report, in this case a “manageable deduction from the remaining salary” would only flow into Hütter’s pocket.
A lesson from Hütter’s first engagement in the Main metropolis. In 2021, Hütter used an exit clause of around seven million euros to join Gladbach. The change became known during the season, which was supposedly one of the reasons why Frankfurt suffered a sporting slump and missed the Champions League.
The “Bild” also wants to know the salary that Hütter is now collecting. Accordingly, the SGE will pay its new coach 2.5 million euros per year, and if the coach is successful, this sum can supposedly increase significantly through bonus payments.
