Second division club Eintracht Braunschweig is sticking with its coach Daniel Scherning despite a disappointing first half of the season. The penultimate team announced this three days after the 0-1 defeat against 1. FC Nürnberg and after an “in-depth analysis”. Part of these joint discussions between the supervisory board and management also included a joint exchange with Scherning, the Lower Saxony company said.
Scherning continues to receive trust, even though Braunschweig has only won one of its last nine league games. “I am convinced that we can only achieve the necessary stability and a sporting turnaround with a clear line and continuity. Continuity is not always the easy approach, but it is the right approach at this point in time if you want to have lasting success,” said sports director Benjamin Kessel and announced that they would manage to stay in the league.
The 41-year-old Scherning took over the Braunschweig company in November 2023. What speaks for him is that he saved the team from relegation last season despite an even more difficult starting situation and that he has great support in the team. After 39 games in office, the points average is 1.1. “We are 1000 percent behind Daniel,” captain Ermin Bicakcic recently emphasized.
