Eintracht Braunschweig has lured a talent from VfB Stuttgart to Hamburger Straße: midfielder Samuele di Benedetto has signed with the Lower Saxony club until 2029. Since his contract with the Swabians is expiring, the 20-year-old is coming on a free transfer.
Di Benedetto is the seventh new signing for the second division club for the coming season. In the past season, the ex-DFB junior played 34 times for the VfB reserves in the 3rd league, only missing four games. He now wants to take the next step in his development with BTSV in the 2nd Bundesliga, where he has no experience yet. But he was briefly on the pitch in the Bundesliga in 2024.
Sports director Benjamin Kessel said about the new signing: “With Samuele, we are gaining a young player who, despite his age, already has valuable experience in men’s football and has developed very well in maturity. He takes on responsibility on the pitch, has exceptional ball control, brings a lot of creativity and has a courageous way of playing. At the same time, he has the necessary grip on the ball. He is also characterized by his very ambitious and success-hungry mentality. We need exactly these qualities on our journey together. We are convinced that Samuele will be very good for our team both in terms of sport and character.”
Di Benedetto explained: “I’m really looking forward to the task and the next step in my career. The conversations were great, I immediately felt comfortable and almost at home. That was an important factor in my decision. Eintracht is a huge, traditional club and I can’t wait to play in front of the fans. I’m a street footballer who likes to play with the ball and looks for creative solutions. At the same time, I have the necessary aggressiveness against the ball and will always be everything for the team on the pitch That’s exactly what the fans can expect from me.”
