In this announcement, the neck hair was set up: Eintracht singer Benjamin Riefenberg fed the Braunschweig fans properly. Successfully.
At Eintracht Braunschweig, there was a decent portion of goosebumps on Friday evening before the kick-off of the important second division home game against SC Paderborn. Südkurven singer Benjamin Riefenberg had grabbed the stadium microphone without further ado and on the lawn of the Eintracht stadium had been set to a motivation speech that is rarely seen in the form.
“I can understand that many of you have been eaten in the past few weeks, of what we got on the lawn,” he called loudly at the beginning of his words towards the stands. There were disastrous games that “let us doubt whether we would keep this class together,” he said with a view to the table.
Because: Before the game, Eintracht was three points away from the saving bank. Lying on relegation plants 16, relegation concerns had increased noticeably in the past few weeks. “Despite these miserable games, we are 20,000 loyal Eintracht fans in the stadium today shows me that we have not lost faith,” continued Riefenberg.
For the game against the fourth in the table from Paderborn, he wishes for full support. “We have the pride of the city with the south curve,” he shouted, and also appealed to the main grandstand and back straight. “I know that you are all relying on and you will brutally support the team today.”
He does not want to hear or hear “150 percent positive support” that the team and the club needed. “You have to be aware that our economic existence is threatened,” said the haunting appeal. “I have the request – from the bottom of my heart – that each of you here today gives 100,000 percent for our harmony. Everyone who is willing to tackle is now tearing their arms up.”
And the emotional words had an effect. The audience tirelessly whipped the BTSV. With success: Despite twice deficit, Eintracht surprisingly won 3-2 and drove up in the relegation battle.
The contagious atmosphere in the ranks seemed to have arrived at the professionals on the lawn. Coach Daniel Schering said afterwards “It was a great atmosphere in the Eintracht Stadium today. You noticed that it was wearing the boys. It makes me proud that we brought victory with our fans through the finish line.”
Defensive player Jannis Nikolaou spoke of “brutal emotions” and a “sensation” – and also substitute winning goal scorer Leon Bell Bell emphasized the enormous influence of the audience on the game: “The fans as a team were extremely important for us.”
And so – thanks to the collaboration between fans and team – the world at the Eintracht in the end of the season is clearly hopeful. Although the location in table position remains more precarious, with the direct non -relegation place 15 you are now on par. The first direct relegation zone is also four points away.
The next promotion aspirant is waiting for the next Friday at the away game against leader Hamburger SV (6.30 p.m.) – a difficult task, which suddenly appears feasible thanks to the support of the audience. Especially: in the first leg in November the BTSV achieved a surprise against HSV (3: 1).
