Eintracht Braunschweig has come a big step closer to the whereabouts in the 2nd Bundesliga and has the hopes of the 1st FC Saarbrücken for a return to the lower house after 19 years almost. The Lower Saxony won the relegation first in the third in the table of the 3rd division 2-0 (0: 0) and can make the class stay in the second leg next Tuesday (8:30 p.m.) in front of a home backdrop.

In front of 15,000 spectators in the sold -out Saarbrücken Ludwigsparkstadion, Lino Tempelmann scored the goals for the guests in the 49th minute and Marvin Rittmüller (61.), who looked more mature and ripped off overall than the Saarlanders.

After the short -term change of coach at the beginning of the week – the previous assistant coach Marc Pfitzner moved to the boss for the released Daniel Schering – the Lower Saxony presented themselves much more stable than with the recent bankruptcy in the second division spurt against Nuremberg (1: 4) and in Elversberg (0: 3).

However, the home side, who had caused a sensation in the pre-season with the move into the cup semi-final, hardly put the Braunschweiger under pressure. Only with a shot by Kai Brünker (16th), who narrowly missed the goal, did the guests threaten some danger in the first half. The spectators got almost none to see playful delicacies. Both teams were shyed by the risk not to fall behind. So the action largely took place between the penalty areas. Braunschweig had the best chance to take the lead shortly before the break when Ermin Bicakcic narrowly missed Robin Krauße.

After the change, the guests hit ice cold. At a quickly performed counterattack, Rayan Philippe initially failed due to the falling FCS goalkeeper Philipp Menzel, the rebounded temple man from around 20 meters in the orphaned Saarbrücker Tor. Twelve minutes later, Rittmüller added a placed low shot into the corner. Saarbrücken looked shocked and almost conceded the third goal. Menzel parried brilliantly in a Bicakcic header. There was also no rearing in the final phase, so that Braunschweig started the journey home with a comfortable cushion.
