After the 1: 5 defeat against Hertha BSC, coach Daniel Schering threatens that at Eintracht Braunschweig. Sports Managing Director Benjamin Kessel refused to comment on the game and the future of the 41-year-old. The personnel had already been disposed of at the Lower Saxony at the end of last year.
Scherning himself said openly about the situation: “It is normal for critical voices to arise in a moment as now. That there are also votes that demand a change of coach. The performance today was far too bad for a home game in the situation in which we are. So it is clear that there is a discussion about the coach. ”
The course of the game in the important relegation duel with the Berliners was “maximum unhappy”, Scherning continued. Despite the early deficit, the game was “relatively open afterwards”. “We then collect this double strike before the break, which must never happen. (…) In the second half, we also get the receipt with our goals for our bad and sloppy manner. Our counter protection was anything but disciplined. Every loss of ball we had felt like a 100 % chance of scoring with the opponent. (…) You are not allowed to play like that, you are not allowed to play in the 2nd league, so you are not allowed to play here in a home game. (…) I am very acidic and very disappointed with our performance. We can only apologize to everyone who was in the stadium today. “
BTSV professional Jannis Nikolaou also criticized the appearance of the Lower Saxony after the game: “In the second half, we ran into the open knife, can also thank Thorben Hoffmann that the Herthans did not use all their chances. (…) That must not happen to us at that time of the season. Especially after last week when we showed a different face. Unfortunately we didn’t get that on the pitch. We had too many ball losses in all parts of the team and Hertha was able to play the dangerous rooms too easily. Such a 1: 5 at home hurts extremely, but now we have to shake and continue. ”
With 49 goals conceded, Braunschweig has the second worst defense on the league behind the bottom of the Regensburg. After the international break, the lions meet Prussia Münster, another trend -setting duel in the fight for relegation. It remains to be seen whether the team will still be looked after by Scherning. The coach had saved the Braunschweiger last season from going to the 3rd league. Shortly before Christmas, the supervisory board and management discussed a replacement of the trainer. During the winter break, however, he was once again expressed trust and instead the team strengthened with five new players for the relegation battle.
